Bin configuration

Gridfinity grid sizing, magnet holes, and print options.

Gridfinity basics

Gridfinity is a modular storage system where bins snap into a baseplate grid. Each grid unit is 42mm × 42mm. Tracefinity generates bins that conform to the Gridfinity spec.

Bin editor layout

The bin editor has three panels:

  • Left — configuration sliders and toggles.
  • Centre — 2D top-down canvas where you place and arrange tools.
  • Right — live 3D preview of the generated bin. Updates automatically as you change settings or move tools.

Toggles

  • Magnet holes — adds magnet recesses in the bin base. On by default.
  • Corners only — magnet holes only in the four corners instead of all grid positions.
  • Stacking lip — adds the Gridfinity stacking lip so bins sit flush when stacked. On by default. Adds ~4.4mm to total height.

Placing tools

Drag tools from the sidebar onto the 2D canvas. Tools snap to position and you can rotate/flip them to fit the layout.

Bed splitting

If the bin dimensions exceed your printer's bed size, Tracefinity automatically splits it into printable pieces and exports them as a ZIP. You can set your bed size in the settings. The full merged STL is also offered for large-format printers.
